Hi, I’m Jeannie Joas, President and CEO of JB Hudson, it is my responsibility and honor to ensure that you have an incredible experience whether you are visiting one of our two stores or browsing our website.
Established in 1885, just a bit of history :
| 1885 | Josiah B. Hudson opens JB Hudson at 230 Nicollet in Minneapolis. Fire destroys store, which reopens at 33 South Seventh Street in Minneapolis. |

| 1929 | JB Hudson is purchased by the Dayton Company and moves into the Eighth and Nicollet Mall corner of the Dayton’s store in Minneapolis. |
| 1982 | JB Hudson sold to Henry Birks and Sons of Montreal, Canada. |
| 1992 | James R. Cargill purchases JB Hudson out of bankruptcy. Jeannie Joas is named President. |
| 2007 | Pohlad family and Jeannie Joas purchase JB Hudson. Joas named President and CEO. |
| 2008 | JB Hudson relocates to the corner of 9th and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis in the historic Young Quinlan Building. |
Growing up in the jewelry business, JB Hudson was always the store to beat. Well, my dream came true in 1992 when I partnered with James Cargill and purchased JB Hudson out of bankruptcy. What a challenge that was polishing a tarnished community image, merchandise and employee morale. But the Grande Dame of Nicollet Mall slowly returned to her splendor!
After Jim Cargill’s death in 2006, I partnered with my dear friends the Pohlad Family. In 2007 we made the historic decision to move our flagship store into the Young Quinlan Building, a move we celebrate every day. Our theme was to preserve the “Best of the Old” and introduce the “Best of the New”. I am quite proud of the results as we were voted “America’s 4th Coolest Store” by In Store Magazine in 2008.
Our team of professionals has a combined experience of over 620 years – Imagine!! The Graduate Gemologists, Master Watchmakers, and European skilled goldsmiths are not only extremely knowledgeable but up-to-date on current market trends and committed to outstanding customer service.
