JB Hudson: A History of Luxury

JB Hudson: A History of Luxury

JB Hudson has long been the destination for luxury in Minnesota.

Josiah Bell Hudson founded his first store downtown Minneapolis in 1885, attracting the elite and well-heeled of the fledging Mill City. Some forty years later, JB Hudson Jewelers moves into a beautiful, custom-built enclave in the newly constructed Dayton’s Dry Goods Department store building on Nicollet Mall. With its terrazzo marble floors, elegant cast-iron gates, and hand-carved mahogany cases, JB Hudson Jewelers attracted generations of clients looking for the very best in jewelry, timepieces, and giftware. In 2008, the store relocated into the Young Quinlan building, a few blocks south of the original location. There, the store expanded to include a full-service repair suite featuring watchmakers, jewelers, and appraisers. Due to the changing retail landscape, JB Hudson Jewelers temporarily shuttered their doors in 2021. This fall, JB Hudson is being relaunched and reimagined with the same eye for world-class jewelry and timepieces, now focused on the modern buyer.
