Garnet
Truly ancient, garnet has been the gem of faith for centuries. It was even said that Noah hung a large garnet in the ark for guidance.

Commonly thought of as a dark red stone, it is actually a large family of gems occurring in every shade but blue. Varieties include rhodolite (violet-red), almandine (brownish red), essonite (brownish-orange), and tsavorite (green).

Garnets have been found on every continent, but most are mined in Southeast Asian, Brazil, and Africa. Brilliant and durable, they are not presently enhanced.
