![]() Tanzanite |
||||
|
A "newcomer" to the world of gems and jewelry, tanzanite is named for the East African country in which it was discovered during the 1960's. A variety of zoisite, tanzanite may be found in a pretty lilac to a deep purple. The most highly prized color is a brilliant blue with a hint of violet. Such high quality tanzanites are often mistaken for fine sapphires. Currently found only in Tanzania, nearly all of these stones are heated to achieve the most beautiful color possible. |
