Tsavorite
First discovered in the late 1960's, tsavorite is actually a green variety of garnet.

A naturally brilliant gemstone, tsavorite can range from a bright grass green to a deep forest green. A flawless clear green tsavorite can be one of the rarest and most beautiful gems of all. Like emerald, it is not unusual for some tsavorites to display natural inclusions.

Named for the Tsavo region of Kenya and Tazania where it is mined, tsavorite occurs in sizes of up to three carats. To date, there are no methods for further beautifying this gem.
